HIGH FLYING
Flying up so high
at the end of a string,
I’m just a small kite,
but I can do
‘most anything
in the breezes
of spring.
I can soar
with the seagulls
when the wind is just right;
I can float with the clouds
so puffy and white;
I can dance
with the raindrops
if they happen to fall;
and I do tricks
and somersaults
when the wind’s
blowing really hard.
I love it up here
and would never
trade the view
that I have
as I’m flying
way up in the sky.
And most of all,
the very best thing,
I love making
the children smile
down there below,
even on a cloudy day
when the chilly
March winds blow
